I spotted this sign while out wandering earlier this summer—I have no idea what the R refers to, but I think it’s awesome (and it’s proof I take pictures of weird things while I’m out wandering about).
Summer is passing faster than I’d like and I’m not spending nearly enough time in my hammock. But, I’ve made some progress with my writing.
I’m just about to submit a rather dark short story to a science fiction anthology built around portal stories. It’s horror set in a really weird place on the other side of a portal. More on this story soon.
I’ve also finished another cozy detective story set on Indigo Station—which will be going out next week over on Armchair Alien (for free).
Tangled Timelines is back from my editor and ready for another round of work. It’s coming together nicely and I can’t wait to release it to the world. I also have the cover now and it captures the book’s vibe perfectly (I’ll share it once I’ve sorted out an exact release date for the book).
Finally, I’ve put together an outline for a murder mystery set on a research spaceship full of twists and turns. I plan on drafting the novel this fall and am going to focus on reading murder mysteries for the next while to get in the right headspace.
Something Awesome
I just finished reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I enjoyed how the book (and movie) focused on two decent beings working together to solve a problem—in this case saving their home worlds.
People working together to do great things is exactly what I loved about the recent Artemis II mission around the moon. That level of competence from people behaving at their best is compelling and I would like to see more of it.
Bye for now,
Jeannette
