October 2023 - my tea cup collection
Hi Everyone,
First off, I’ll start news…
Subject 34 is done! Stay tuned for the cover reveal and release date.
Secondly, we’re celebrating over on Armchair Alien all October. They’ll be a month of fun stuff including discounts on books, inspiration essays and author interviews. Now is a great time to sign up.
Now onto some rambling…
There are a lot of thrift/junk/antique shops in the area I live in and for some reason, I keep ending up wandering through them (Typically, I’m with someone who wants to look). Years ago, I decided that it would be more entertaining to actually look for something. I chose to start collecting Victorian-style tea cups, the type with ridiculously small handles and a delicate saucer. But not any tea cup, my collection can only contain ones with a polka dot design—which I know exist because my mom has one.
So far, my polka dot tea cup collection is absolutely perfect—I’ve been looking for these cups for years and have found exactly none. This collection takes up no space and keeps me entertained whenever someone drags me into thrift shops. I do run the risk of someday actually finding one of the tea cups, and I’m not sure what I’ll do then.
Do you have any fun collections?
On a different note, here’s something really cool (I’m now picturing something similar with SciFi structures)
What I’m reading
I raced through the first four Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells - they are fantastic. I found myself relating to title character (i.e. Murderbot) more than I care to admit. These books are how I aspire to write.
I’m also working my way though The Skeptics’ Guide to the Future: What Yesterday’s Science and Science Fiction Tell Us About the World of Tomorrow by Dr. Steven Novella. So far it is a fun read that has filled me full of ideas.
Cheers,
Jeannette
