Hi Everyone,
I don’t know how it’s mid-October already! I feel like I blinked and the season changed on me. And since it’s approaching spooky season, please enjoy the bats above.
I haven’t done much writing as I’ve been busy changing day jobs (it’s a government job which means I’ve filled in lots of forms). It’s all good, and I’m excited about the new role. And now that the dust has settled, my mind will be ready to work on fiction again.
Next up for me is to dig into the sequel of Hope is the Thing With Feathers. I have a rough first draft that I need to spend some time with. The book has a date with an editor, so I need to get going on it.
A book recommendation - Frozen Heck
This book was delightful!
The crew of the star ship Teapot stumble upon a derelict ship and head over to investigate—because, of course everyone would investigate a random ghost ship in the middle of no where (what could go wrong). What they found sent everything sideways forcing their next stop to be a donut making space station.
I loved the diverse crew and how all the characters cared about each other. How the translators worked amused me—and they gave a translator to the dog (she is the exact kind of talking dog I didn’t know I needed). A the references to pop culture sci-fi were fantastic.
As promised it was a not-remotely-scary sci-fi horror novel, and it was one I might turn to again to be amused.
Other books I’ve finished lately and recommend:
Full Speed to a Crash Landing by Beth Revis - a super fun space adventure that was also a quick read.
Chaos Terminal by Mur Lafferty a murder mystery set on a quirky space station.
And that’s it for me,
Cheers,
Jeannette
