In Paris
An iconic landmark
I'm in Paris for a week. I'm attending an Acoustic Conference here, but I made sure to arrive early to have time to wander. Since this post is all pictures, I'll let those interested click on.
I'd like one of these over my fireplace
Entrance to the Louvre - the place is huge.
I wandered around the Louvre for over 4 hours and I don't think I saw everything. I find it hard to look at that much stuff! Plus the crowds started to get to me and my feet hurt, so I fled to a nice restaurant and had lunch with a glass of wine. It would probably be better to see the Louvre over several days, but I'll be in the conference most the rest of the week and there are other places to see.
Here are some random shots I took inside the museum (it was allowed):
An illustrated lion from ancient Mesopotamia
A rather forlorn looking mummified cat
A snake in trouble
A fancy room of Napoleon III (I think)
One of the famous paintings there (I also saw the Mona Lisa and the crowd around it was enormous)
And finally, a rather famous statue
I've taken hundreds of other pictures that I'll share over time. They're mostly close-up of some of the objects and artwork--some of the images have turned out fantastic. More to come.
