fantastic fungi and where I found them
I'd thought I'd share a collection of fungi pictures taken over the last while. Since I haven't gone anywhere for months, I found all of these in my neighbourhood.
I should mention that I like photographing fungi because they tend to stay still, unlike birds who tend to fly off on me. What I'm no good at is fungi identification. Someday, I'll find an expert to walk through the forest for me, for now, don't trust the names I put to these mushrooms.
That said, the one above with the pretty orange top and white spots, is poisonous--so don't eat it (Don't eat any fungi unless you know absolutely for sure it's edible). It's commonly known as the fly amanita (Amanita muscaria). I've spotted two other Amanita near by--Amanita regalis outside my office (where I haven't been lately) and Amanita gemmata poking out of a neglected flower bed at the local mall. I guess I live in the kind of neighbourhood that is being slowly digested by fungi.
